Celebrating Your Story of Home: Our Personal Approach to Design

“What makes you unique?”

Seems simple enough to answer, right? But when you start to dig a little deeper for the answer that feels right, you’ll realize that there are quite a few layers to this question.

By now you’re probably familiar with our recent rebrand. After more than a decade in business, we felt it was time for a new logo and color palette, website, and brand messaging to enhance our growth and vision for the future.

While we were super pleased with our fresh identity, we were still on a lingering quest to answer that seemingly straightforward question. For many years, our vibrant coastal design aesthetic defined the brand; bold coastal color, punchy patterns, and unique furnishings served as our recognizable calling card. And while it’s quite common for interior designers to be driven by a distinct style in their portfolio, we found that the vibrant coastal aesthetic was becoming less prominent as our new clients sought diverse styles.

And then it clicked.

So, What Makes Blakely Interior Design Unique?

Besides color and pattern, there has always been a common thread connecting each of our projects, no matter how they appeared visually: we design custom private residences that are always inspired by our clients’ individualism.

Whether a luxe city-view penthouse or a summer home by the shore, we relish in the opportunity to design in a breadth of styles, personalizing each home to those who live there. With passion, precision, and a profoundly personal approach, each project is uniquely tailored to our clients’ desires. The result?

Distinctly personal interiors that celebrate your story of home.

Sure, many designers create homes based on their clients' aspirations, but it’s our thoughtful process from concept to completion that makes all the difference in the final reveal. Our interiors go deeper than just fabrics and finishes, and our clients’ individual stories are the most important piece of the puzzle.

From travel and cultural experiences, to busy family life or easeful retirement, to their affections and aversions and everything in between, our team takes pride in honoring our clients’ backgrounds by weaving their unique experiences into each space. These moments all create a closeness to home that goes far beyond aesthetics.

Let’s Get Personal

Creating these highly personalized homes requires us to get to know our clients really well, so from the very first meeting, we ask a lot of questions. We show countless images of interiors, furniture, lighting, and artwork for them to react to, paying attention to the smallest details, and drawing conclusions based on common threads throughout the process. Apart from design preferences, we also love hearing what makes you, you. From your equestrian riding days to where you honeymooned, we blend these personal elements throughout to pay homage to the history of your life.

Function plays a major role in the personalization of a home, too.  Recently, a client mentioned they love to perch in a corner of their kitchen when entertaining to be able to take it all in. Even a subtle nuance like this provides direct inspiration for us when developing a fully functional space plan.

Designing in a Breadth of Styles

We celebrate that no two projects in our portfolio look the same; just view the last three projects we photographed and you'll see what we mean.

The Salem Project

A recently renovated historic family home in a quaint Salem neighborhood. Our clients requested we focus on functionality, vintage charm and moody vibes. Curated antique finds and thoughtful solutions define this project, along with splashes of bold color and meaningful artwork.

The Bellevue Project

Another renovated historic home, but with a notably different feel. For a clean and contemporary aesthetic, this family desired a light and airy interior that epitomizes carefree summer living through layers of inviting textures and a monochromatic palette.

The Narragansett Pier Project

A newly built custom home that is full of vibrant color and a nod to its coastal location. While also a summer home, it was important for this family to have expansive space for entertaining guests year round, and for the seven of them to enjoy an easy lifestyle by the beach.

Despite their visual differences, these homes are all intentionally designed and cohesive throughout, for a complete interior that seamlessly flows and reflects the distinct lifestyles of the homeowners.

Through our tried and true process, meticulous attention to detail, and skilled team of distinguished leaders at the helm, our projects will always result in distinctly personal interiors that celebrate our clients’ stories of home. Let us honor yours.
